Workshop Info:
The class is a mash-up of contemporary dance & black culture, fusing African, hip-hop, and social dances with more traditional modern techniques. Dancers will be challenged technically and encouraged to explore their own authentic movement/groove, through moments of improvisation and freedom to play within choreography.
So excited to teach Jazz because it is my favorite genre! I want to try and make sure I get to see the different personalities as well as skill levels of all of my students. When I teach I like to use music that inspires a mood or brings back a memory. This encourages the class to use their imagination! This includes the warm-up, across the floor exercises, and choreography. This class is also going to bring the ones in the back to the front because that’s who I pay attention to the most! Hidden gems are what make this experience all worth it. If I can make an impact and bring someone’s confidence to the forefront then no one will ever forget this experience!
Liturgical dance focuses on deepening and focusing of the worship event; it is not ornamental or decorative. Dancers will learn the background of Liturgical dance while enhancing their technique in Ballet, Modern, Jazz and African dance.
The class will consist of a warm-up and across-the-floor work that will end in a center combination composed of the skills taught in class. The goal is for dancers to be engaged and have a great time while praising the Lord. This is an open-level class.
Contemporary Modern is a highly physical class that utilizes floorwork, initiations & expansive movement to build strength & precision with flow & release.
The purpose of this class is to immerse students in hip hop through a challenging sequence of movements. Students will learn movement based in Hip Hop techniques. The class begins with a follow-along warm-up accompanied by learning a combination.
