Connect with color through Natural dyeing. Explore the colors that come from Black beans and Jamaican Hibiscus flowers on two different fabrics. We will learn how to mordant, how to create and maintain a vat and to use ph shifters.
Kits will be included.
Materials included in kit:
(4) sample pieces of Silk and Silk/Rayon pre-mordanted
1/2lb dried Black Beans
2 cups dried Jamaican Hibiscus Flowers
1 Tbl Washing Soda/Soda Ash
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Jenelle Legge is a Natural dyer and crafter focused on exploring the process of creating color. Her work often connects colors to people and navigates generational patterns. Born and raised throughout Baltimore County and City, she attended Baltimore School for the Arts and received a BFA in Fiber from the Maryland Institute College of Art.
