A Universe of Stories!

JUL 15- AUG 15 | 1-3PM

Our signature Youth Education program returns to the libraries! Teaching artists combine youth leadership, literacy, visual and performing arts twice a week into a youth club! Every summer we partner with the Enoch Pratt Free libraries and this year we present the theme, “A Universe of Stories!” Register today!

Save the date for our stunning youth exhibition and performances that close out the summer for all Creative Alliance students.

OPEN MINDS LOCATIONS:

Tuesday & Thursday
K-2nd grade
Arts focus: Drumming, cooking, collage, and sculpture

Patterson Park Library
Wednesday & Thursday
3-5th grade
Arts focus: Drumming, cooking, collage, and sculpture

Southeast Anchor Library
Tuesdays & Fridays
3-5th grade
Arts focus: Painting, drawing, watercolor, sculpture, collage

Students in Open Minds: A Universe of Stories read and create artwork based on the following books:

  • Zathura by Van Allsburg
  • Interstellar Cinderella by Underwood
  • Margaret and the Moon by Robbins
  • A Computer called Catherine by Slade
  • Zita the Spacegirl by Ben Hatke
  • Cleopatra in Space by Maihack
  • Astronaut Academy by Dave Roman
  • Moon over Star by Aston
  • A Brave Spaceboy by Dana Smith
  • Best Frints in the Whole Universe by Antoinette Portis

 

To register for Open Minds, complete the application and email back to education director, Rasheem at rasheem@creativealliance.org by July 1st. First come, first served!
