Fractal Cat Celebrates Bicycle Day - 75th Anniversary

THU APR 19 8PM
$18, $15 Members (+$3 at the door)

Fractal Cat and friends celebrate the 75th anniversary of Bicycle Day at the Creative Alliance on April 19, 2018. Despite the name, Bicycle Day has nothing to do with the history of the two-wheeled machine, but rather Dr. Albert Hoffman’s post-LSD bicycle ride following his intentional ingestion of LSD three days after discovering the psychoactive substance in his lab.

This commemorative event links Hoffman’s discovery of LSD and its influence on music and culture to current research on psychedelics as change agents in the field of medicine.

Dr. Matthew Johnson, Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, opens the evening with a talk on his 10+ years of human research with psychedelics. Afterward, Baltimore band Fractal Cat celebrates psychedelic music with a set of original songs and covers from the psychedelic era from Pink Floyd to The Beatles to Sly and the Family Stone.

Musical guests: Brooks Long, Members of Telesma, Dave Heumann of Arbouretum, Conor Brendan, Clarence Ward III, Chanel Whitehead
