Dexter Gordon (1923-1990) was one of the great tenor sax players of all time. He emerged during the bop era, quickly defining his own style with a large and spacious sound, often playing just behind the beat. John Coltrane and Sonny Rollins, among other jazz geniuses, were greatly influenced by Gordon's sound. Tonight, five of Baltimore’s best, Warren Wolf (vibes), Lee Pearson (drums), Jeff Reed (bass), Michael Joseph Harris (guitar) and Daniel Wallace (tenor sax), tackle some of Gordon’s most celebrated compositions and arrangements for an astonishing night of jazz.
