Playing with toys is often viewed as a sign of someone who refuses to grow up. The works of Toym Imao and Sam Allerton Green reveal that this couldn't be further from the truth! These two artists are as serious about play as most people are about work. Through drawing, painting and sculpture they show us that toys carry symbolism and meanings that are significant to young and older people alike. The dynamic of play also crosses cultural backgrounds from East to West, enveloping us in a ritual that can't be found anywhere else but in a free world. Sam Allerton Green and Toym Imao are Artists-in-Residence at the Creative Alliance.
