E. Scott Johnson
E. Scott Johnson of Ober│Kaler is an advocate for artists and arts organizations, and is the recipient of numerous accolades from national and local legal and business publications for his work in the entertainment and intellectual property law fields. Scott’s clients include authors, composers, recording artists, record companies, publishing companies, television, film and music producers, nonprofit organizations, broadcasters, educational institutions and others in the arts, entertainment and media fields. Creative Alliance is recognizing Scott with the Golden Formstone Award at 2012 Marquee Ball for his leadership of numerous arts organizations and as immediate past-Chair of the Maryland State Arts Council.
A former musician and record producer, Scott is a voting member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (Grammys). He is a past-president of the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation, Maryland Lawyers for the Arts, Young Audiences of Maryland and CityLit Project. He co-founded and serves as Chair of the Maryland Film Industry Coalition, which successfully advocated passage of the Maryland Film Production Employment Act of 2011, legislation Scott co-authored, which has brought major television and film productions back to Maryland. In 2011, Scott received the Sue Hess Maryland Arts Advocate Award from Maryland Citizens for the Arts. He served on the Advisory Committee, and as Event Chair for the Dedication of the 9/11 Memorial of Maryland, dedicated on September 11, 2011. Scott served as a member of the NEA’s 2012 Regional Partnership Agreement Panel and currently serves on the boards of the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation and Young Audiences of Maryland. Scott served as a dedicated trustee of the Creative Alliance from 2004 to 2008.
