THE GOLDEN FORMSTONE AWARD PRESENTED TO JOYCE SCOTT!
HUMAN CHARIOT RACE AND ASSORTED HI-JINKS! THE RESOLUTION JAZZ TRIO!
Dine and dance in Neo-Roman-Hollywood-Egyptian splendor as Creative Alliance transforms their 22,000 square-foot 1930 movie theater/art center into an elaborate movie set for a benefit of epic proportions! The 2nd Annual Marquee Ball uses the silent film classic Ben-Hur (1925, Niblo) as jumping off point for a luxe night of dancing, dining and happy historical inconsistency. The Roman Feast features the inaugural presentation of the The Golden Formstone Award, presented to artist Joyce J. Scott for Form-idable contributions to Baltimore through the arts. Art historian and MICA professor Leslie King-Hammond presents the award. Then there is Caligula's Cabaret! Joyce's long time friend, consummate comedienne and actress Kay Lawal Muhammad, offers a performed roast for Ms. Scott. Darius Scott and The Resolution Jazz Trio perform with special guest Lorraine Whittlesey. Hosts include movie glammers Vince Peranio and Dolores Deluxe, cultural maven Nancy Haragan as well as Senator Barbara Mikulski.
The Marquee Ball offers the Creative Alliance hallmark of _serious_ fun dancing to jump blues and southern roots music ensemble Junkyard Saints. Hear the horns! The neo-coliseum / gallery hosts a Human Chariot Race and other unexpected hi-jinks. Watch out for the belly-dancers! The Agora Silent Auction features work by many of Baltimore's most significant artists as well as decadent delights like week-ends in Rehoboth, fine dining, and front row seats for major theater events.
Neo-Roman-Mesopotamian-Egyptian-Babylonian Attire or Fun Fancy Party Dress Suggested!
