Get ready, there’s a party on the East Side! In a rare hometown performance, international singing sensation and social activist Lea Gilmore celebrates the women of the blues – from Bessie, Ethel, Alberta and Aretha to Dinah, Bonnie, and Koko — and kicks off her Umoja Musica Project. Lea is joined by award-winning blues singers Stacy Brooks (DC Blues Society), Shelley Ensor, and Jonathan Gilmore, with maestro Derrick Thompson leading the band.
In honor of AIDS Awareness Month, prior to the concert they will highlight several Baltimore-area AIDS organizations, including: LIGHT Health and Wellness Comprehensive Services, THE PORTAL - Emporing New Concepts, and Trans United. Sponsored by Amy Raehse & Dave Tomasko.
