Laura Byrne''s Irish flute playing has been described as "effortless, powerful and engaging." A 2010 MD State Arts Council solo performance award recipient, she has performed throughout North America and Ireland but calls Baltimore home. That is why she asked to debut her new CD, "Lucky Day," at the Creative Alliance and we were only too happy to host. Laura''s diverse selection of music is played both in solo and in combination with other Irish music luminaries, including Creative Alliance headliners Billy McComiskey (accordion), Donna Long (piano), and Pat Egan (guitar) as well as some of New York''s finest traditional musicians, including old time virtuoso fidder Rhys Jones. With special guest step dancer Jonathon Srour, just off a tour with Lord of the Dance, plus champion step dancer Joe Duffey and Abby Lyons from the Teelin Irish Dance Company.
