Creative Alliance and CAmm (Creative Alliance MovieMakers):
Founded by artists, Creative Alliance reopened The Patterson, a historic movie theater on Baltimore’s east side, as a multidisciplinary arts space in 2003. With a 200 seat theater, 2 galleries, 8 live-work studios, media lab, classroom and film/video/photo gear rental, Creative Alliance is widely recognized as the city’s, if not the region’s, most dynamic arts organization. Creative Alliance MovieMakers (CAmm), the organization’s film/video/digital arts program, is at the center of the local film scene and serves audiences, filmmakers and artists through screenings, workshops and networking events.
Position Overview:
The CAmm Director possesses a thorough knowledge of contemporary trends in independent film and video, and is an active player in the region’s film/video community. He/she oversees all CAmm programs including the CAmm Cage & Media lab and works closely with the program staff to schedule and implement screenings, networking events, and film, video and digital workshops. The Director of CAmm is part of the senior management team, and supervises the Cage Manager. The Director of CAmm also has primary responsibility for managing the Creative Alliance’s website.
Job Tasks:
• Develop long range planning and marketing of the CAmm Cage & Media Lab
• Direct and manage CAmm Film, Video and Digital educational programs including scheduling workshops, hiring faculty, recruiting participants and marketing.
• Manage, book, and market screenings, often including discussions, music, and community programs
• Supervise CAmm Cage & Media Lab Manager and interns
• Plan and manage multimedia marketing and documentation for CA events (online video interviews and promo videos, Lantern Parade documentation/promo DVD, Marquee Ball video)
• Oversee CAmm Fellowship (support filmmaker, promotion, call for entries, recruit jury)
• Support efforts to publicize Baltimore films and filmmakers.
• Create opportunities for filmmakers to come together and network (e.g., CAmm Slamm, CAmm Cine Lounge).
• Manage CA website.
Qualifications and Experience:
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree (Film, Video or related field preferred)
• Film, video or related programming and promotion experience
• Video production experience
• Experience troubleshooting Mac OS
• Management experience
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Web and design skills
• Experience with Final Cut Pro
• A/V set-up for events and presentations
