Meet some of our state’s finest traditional artists, and their apprentices: Grammy-nominated Irish pianist Donna Long; Baltimore jazz piano sensation Lafayette Gilchrist; haunting Appalachian gospel singer Burton DeBusk; entrancing Persian sufi daf master Ali Analouei; Indian Hindustani vocal master Samia Ahmad; Guatemalan marimba master Robert Giron; and Colombian vallenato accordion master Gustavo Nieto. Maryland Traditions is the folklife program of the MD State Arts Council.
