Humorous and dreamlike, poignant and political, Dyson & Sunstrum combine live performance, puppetry, video, sound and sculpture. These brief, solo pieces accompany their dizzying exhibition in the Main Gallery. Dragons considers politics, love and spectacle as two women sculpt a Chinese dragon out of elements from urban fashion. Opera charts the hero-quest of Sunstrum’s alter-ego Asme (pronounced “AZ-mee”) who embodies selves that are trans-cultural, trans-historical, and trans-geographical.
