20 years ago, The Patterson hosted the premiere of The Screen Painters, the amazing doc on East Baltimore’s own folk art tradition. Since then it has won major awards, been seen around the world, sold thousands of copies and helped to revitalize our city’s unique but endangered urban art form. Take a look back at filmmaking and traditional rowhouse decor in the summer of 1988 when an energetic documentary crew met Baltimore’s vibrant screen painting community. Meet filmmakers and screen painters—your neighbors and friends for an evening of film and spirited reminiscence and conversation. Panel: Filmmakers Elaine Eff, Richard Chisolm, and Penny Trams w/ screenpainters Tom Lipka, Dee Herget, and Oktavec family mbrs.
