Traditions from across the state and around the globe are showcased tonight. Hear Irish ballad singer Patrick Egan and flutist Laura Byrne. Jazz giant Carl Grubbs, who was mentored by John Coltrane, jams with Lafayette Gilchrest—a star in his own right. Anuradha Nehru performs South Indian Kuchipudi dance with apprentice Lavanya; and Balkan folksinger Tatiana Sarbinska harmonizes with apprentice Elin Zurbrigg. Demonstrating the rare art of Nattuvangam, Shoba Subramian and son Ashwin bridge vocal music and Indian classical dance.
