In this gorgeous, hallucinatory show, Buster Keaton flickers on the curtains of an imaginary cabaret, framed by a functioning hurdy-gurdy sculpture of tubas and bicycle parts controlled by the puppeteer with foot pedals. Based on the play/poem Buster Keaton’s Stroll, by surrealist poet Federico Garcia Lorca, this production is a comedy of failures chronicling one man’s pursuit of love and affection amidst the alienation of a big city. Based in Chicago and coming off a year-long residency at UMD College Park, Thomas was co-founder of Redmoon Theater, where he established his reputation for stunning, original visual theater.
