A luminary tradition that attracts thousands to Patterson Park each year, the Great Halloween Lantern Parade was named 2007’s “Best Parade” in Baltimore magazine. The mood is celebratory and communal as a glowing river of paper lanterns flows through the night alongside floats, giant skeletons, stilt walkers, and marching bands. The Parade concludes on Pagoda Hill with live music and a shadow puppet show on a 40-foot tall screen. Molly Ross directs the action, and received a prestigious Jim Henson award to rebuild and reprise Luna for the sparkling finale. Loosely based on a Grimms fairytale, the moon has been sold to the underworld, unleashing a raucous riot of monsters. Live score by Chris Pumphrey. Make your own lantern at our Lantini Party or an Open Workshops.
