Open Minds: Anansi

Youth between ages 7-10 years old are invited to register in our fall Open Minds program, themed Anansi, a popular West African folktale and spider. Anansi is considered to be the spirit of all knowledge of stories. He is also one of the most important characters of West African and Caribbean folklore.
From September 26 to November 30th, students create stories, lanterns, and awesome artwork inspired by literature. Participants explore mindfulness, collage, painting, and interactive sculpture leading up to a culminating community showcase at the Creative Alliance on during Kwanzaa Family Day on Saturday, December 3. This program focuses on literacy, artistic expression, and having fun through the creative process.
