Lea Gilmore with the Juke Joint Allstars
As the great Fats Waller sang, "this joint is jumpin!" Join Lea Gilmore and her incredibly talented musical friends for a hip-shakin Saturday night blues party!
A native Baltimorean, Lea is an internationally known, award winning singer and activist who is thrilled at every chance she gets to bring music to her home city! She has not only performed with the late Peter Seeger, she continues to mix her music and passion for justice here in the US, France, the UK, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, The Democratic Republic of the Congo, Siberia (for real!), and more.
Tonight, Lea Gilmore returns to Creative Alliance with an all new show, and she’ll share stage with some of the area's finest musicians.
Tom Reyes is Music Director. The award winning keyboardist is one of the busiest musicians in the region. Washington DC native Earl Ivey is on drums. He has toured Europe, and performed with acts such as Peaches and Herb, Stanley Turrentine, and other notable artists. Band leader of the award winning Rodney Kelly Experience, “Mr. Entertainment,” Rodney Kelly Sr. is on guitar. 1rst call bassist John Dahlman studied with members of the National Symphony Orchestra and now leads his own band. Joe Farace is on guitar and is well known for covering a wide range of playing styles. In addition to being known as a key member of the band, Orange Wedge, the composer and musician currently performs with the Bottle of Blues Band. Gary Ellerbe is our MC for the night. Prime Time, as he is known, was able to live his dream of playing Black music on the radio for WEAA, and hang with his jazz musician heroes. This is sure to be a magical evening of music and song.
