Boys for Pele - 21st Anniversary Tribute show
Tori Amos fans rejoice! Baltimore pianist/singer/composer Lauren Aycock Anderson and friends assemble for one night to perform the critically-acclaimed album, Boys for Pele, from start to finish. With the release of Boys for Pele in 1996, thousands of young people learned new ways to express strength, femininity, anger, self-reflection, loss, and yearning. The album became a place to hide, mourn, heal, and resurface empowered.
Lauren Aycock Anderson (citizenlala, Cowabunga Pizza Time, Gunwife Gone, Baltimore Rock Opera Society) is a classically trained pianist and singer with a moody, rock edge. She’s put together a group of incredibly talented musicians and Tori fans to help her realize her dream of performing the album that has influenced her, as well as many other women, since the age of 16. Featuring Erica Patoka on synth and vocals (Baltimore Rock Opera Society), Brandt Cooley on guitar (Professor Shyguy), Melody Easton ($100 Girlfriend) on bass, and Rich Schaefer on percussion (Oceans of Flesh). The performers will be donating a portion of their earnings to Tori’s most beloved charity, RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network).
