GLOBE’s Golden Era: A Tribute to Soul and R & B
The internationally beloved voice of Navasha Daya and rising star Jonathan Gilmore turn their amazing vocal prowess to some of the most powerful music ever: the golden age of American soul and R&B. They perform hits from Ray Charles to the Isley Brothers. Songs include Function at the Junction to Funkadelic. The Globe posters, the core marketing tools for this age of music, shine in day-glo colors in our Main Gallery. Folklorist Mark Pruyear offers rich introductions to the artists and music.

Mark Puryear, Smithsonian Institution Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage, author of “The Beat!"; Sheila Ross, lead singer for Baltimore-based ’60s girl group The Royalettes; Lea Gilmore, renowned blues, gospel and jazz singer; Ju Ju House drummer for Chaka Khan, David Sanborn, and Roberta Flack; and Darryl Brooks, DC-based promoter for the late Chuck Brown and Public Enemy.
