As home for the Creative Alliance, The Patterson’s primary purpose
is to offer local, regional and emerging artists and audiences a venue,
meeting place and forum. We also bring to Baltimore a small number
of performers from outside our area who can contribute to the lively
dialogue in our arts community. We welcome private rentals, however
we are only able to do so as our busy schedule permits. |

Main Gallery at the Creative Alliance
The gallery adjoining the theater, lobby and bar on the first floor
is the Creative Alliance’s primary gallery space. Exhibitions
are typically on view 6-8 weeks and are used not only to feature established
and emerging artists, but to explore broad issues of relevance to
our audiences. Although artists are welcome to submit materials for
general consideration, we are not currently reviewing proposals
for the Main Gallery. Artists may email materials to jed@creativealliance.org
or mail them to the CA offices, attn: Jed Dodds, Artistic Director. Please don't submit anything that needs to be returned.
Amalie Rothschild Gallery
The Amalie Rothschild Gallery on the second floor of The Patterson
is intended to present a diverse range of artwork by Creative Alliance
members. Exhibits and installations rotate approximately every three
weeks for the purpose of allowing access for as many artists as possible,
and use of the Gallery as a project space, incubator and facilitator
of new work is encouraged.
There is a membership requirement and an exhibition fee for the Amalie
Rothschild Gallery. Artists should be aware that staff and budgetary
resources for the Gallery are limited.
Proposals for the Amalie Rothschild are reviewed three times/year. Decisions are made by program staff, with recommendations from the Creative Alliance Members Committee. Applications for our Jan-Apr '08 season are due by Tue Feb 12 . Click

Theater Booking,

The Theater at The Patterson offers emerging local and regional
performers in all media an enthusiastic, technically sound, well-promoted
venue. We also bring to Baltimore a small number of performers from
outside our area who can contribute to the lively dialogue in our
arts community.
We are looking for innovative, original, solid work, which speaks
directly to our audiences. We like all colors, all ages, all sexualities
and all media. We are drawn to themed or timely events relating
to holidays, ethnic culture, historical events, cd releases, or
Baltimore premieres. We like working with artists and promoters
who are able to partner with us in the production and promotion
of an event. We expect our artists to work hard to get a crowd out.
Lastly, we encourage folks who are interested in booking with us,
if possible, to check out our calendar and come to a performance
to get a full sense of what we are about.
We Do Book
- theater: one-person shows, small theater/musical productions
- music: ethnic and roots music, jazz, new musics, free musics,
classical musics, chamber opera
- performance: performance art, burlesque, vaudeville, cabaret
- community events: events/performances that showcase and /or
benefit other area non-profits or individuals that share part
of our mission; performances that speak to a particular part of
our constituency/audience
- lectures and history: lectures, performances, films, showcasing
regional aspects of art, history and culture
- dance: contemporary, ethnic, traditional…
We Don’t Usually Book
- Top Forty, Wedding or cover bands.
- One band/performer for one night. We prefer to schedule several
bands/performers around a theme, ethnic group or occasion - and
encourage proposals of this kind.
- Multi-weekend runs. Almost all bookings are for one or two nights.
Finances
Creative Alliance works with performers to arrive at a ticket price
for the event. Performers generally receive a percentage of door
receipts after expenses such as technical staff (required for all
shows) have been paid. The bar is managed and staffed by CA staff
and CA keeps all bar receipts.
Submit a Proposal
If you are interested in performing with us send a brief e-mail
proposal/description of what you want to do to megan@creativealliance.org.
If it seems appropriate for us we will request a full package.
Charm City Kitty Club
Creative Alliance hosts the Charm City Kitty Club on a quarterly
basis. A cabaret style evening of queer-centric music, readings,
screenings and performance the Kitty Club has a proud, rambunctious
history of sold-out shows. If you are interested in performing with
the Kitty Club (or just helping out), contact the ladies of the
Kitty Club Committee at www.charmcitykittyclub.com
