Great Cider, Food, and Art 2/21

Local Plunge, along with Clementine, the Creative Alliance, Millstone Cellars, and Sam Allerton Green – Creative Alliance resident artist – are all teaming up to bring you an evening that will peel back the layers of one of Baltimore’s most historic and well-known neighborhoods. You’ll get a look into the farm-to-table movement, check out the local art scene and enjoy some delicious food and drinks. Just read what Local Plunge says about it on their blog (reproduced below):

Locally Crafted and Sourced Cider and Mead

Kyle Sherrer, cofounder of Millstone Cellars (along with his father Curt Sherrer) will be coming down from his cidery/meadery in Monkton to hold a tasting and introduction to the delicious world of artisanal cider and mead. Kyle will also be handing out a special gift to everyone at the event! We were just at the cidery this weekend, so trust me when I say that you don’t want to miss out on what these guys are creating just north of Baltimore. Find out why Millstone’s products are infinitely closer to the world of wine and whiskey than to any mead or hard cider I’ve ever heard of.

Farm to Table Comfort Food in the Heart of Highlandtown

Cristin Dadant, self-proclaimed “proprietress extraordinaire” and co-owner of two Clementine locations, the Green Onion food market and a catering business, will be taking time out of her crazy schedule to tell us how Clementine originally came to be, what the local farm-to-table philosophy means to her, about Clementine’s partnership with the Creative Alliance and more.

Connecting Art with Communities

At the heart the Creative Alliance’s mission is support of the arts in Baltimore and the neighboring communities by connecting the two. Perfect! In that spirit, one of the Creative Alliance’s resident artists will give us a personal tour of his or her exhibition. We’re still coordinating who will be available to be one of our Featured Storytellers so stay tuned here or follow Local Plunge on Facebook and Twitter for updates.

The Eats

Clementine, located within the Creative Alliance, serves up a casual atmosphere in a beautiful space touched off with a bright and immersive mural behind the bar.

Clementine’s menu changes often but you can find a sample menu here. Offerings tend to include a blend of rich new and improved renditions of familiar comfort foods and interesting takes of local favorites (such as their personally-sourced Genuine Food Co. Bacon Wrapped Meat Loaf or the Crab Dip! served in a baked portabella with bagel chips).

For our guests, Clementine will be offering a special discounted menu. Because they so live their farm-to-table philosophy, we can’t create a menu until we get closer to the date and can identify what ingredients are available. I think I can deal with that. Stay posted here or follow Local Plunge on Facebook and Twitter for updates.

The Drinks

Clementine offers a long list of craft cocktails such as the Tequila Fresca Martini (Voted Baltimore Magazine Best Cocktail 2012) and the the Garnetto (cinnamon infused Green Mt. Vodka, pomegranate juice, simple syrup and lime). They also offer a wide selection of craft beers. Click to see a sample drink menu. The Creative Alliance, which incidentally runs the bar in Clementine, is working on a special discounted beverage menu for the evening. Stay tuned or follow Local Plunge on Facebook and Twitter for updates.

The Location

The Creative Alliance builds communities by bringing together artists and audiences from diverse backgrounds to experience spectacular arts programs and engage in the creative process. They provide support to area artists, promote Baltimore as a center for creative production and advocate for cultural expression rooted in a sense of place. The Creative Alliance is located in the landmark Patterson Theater next to Patterson Park.
